How many of you think you should be cast off to an island?

I wouldn't mind it, as long as all the basic necessities to sustain my life were available.

I haven't yet decided if that would include internet access.

Sounds like heaven. Imagine a tropical island with only aspies there and no NT's.

No. I think our specializations don't do much good on an island, since very specialized people make more sense when large populations can have access to the specialists; and anyway, those of us who need help with daily life wouldn't survive on an island anyway. (Probably.) Society's meant to be interdependent. Specialized people do better in society than out of it.

My ideal world would be one in which odd, socially clumsy, obsessive people have as much of a place as any other person, where it wouldn't be considered to be unacceptable to have a disability, and where people could get common-sense accommodations so they could participate in whatever they wanted to, and not have to when they didn't.

I think if we can get rid of all this crazy prejudice, we could fit into the world just fine, and nobody would need an island because it would be just as easy to get a quiet apartment where you could live in peace and, if you wanted, solitude--in the middle of an NT city.

I  ISLANDS ! !! Especially small tropical ones like Gilligan's.

<-----My avatar is creating them, see? :D

I don't like LOST because everyone who watches it gets lost
in the show for a significant part of their lives but if I was lost
on the island I'd just avoid all the trouble and it would just be
a BIGGER version of Gilligan's.

The world is running out of little tropical islands. Dubai is dumping
rocks into the ocean to make more but it is a major project that
is ruining lots of machines that they use to do it. I was surprised
that some clever guy there just didn't think up the simple idea of
dumping the desert sand in the ocean to make tropical islands out of it.
I STILL THINK IT COULD BE DONE LIKE THAT (but not exactly).

Has anyone been all over Vancouver Island? I'm curious what its like there.
The weather is supposedly unexpectedly similar to Florida for a place in
Canada, and I heard a rumor of a "commune" on the northwest side.
Maybe its hard to get to. I see lots of big mountains on the globe there.

We'd still have our arguments and disagreements. But I'd just be sitting in the sand making sandcastles and ignoring everyone, like I usually do on this island... I mean town.
