In the past (and occasionally now) I have experienced this. Once I got home & parked, I would just zone out for awhile in the car. The sun's rays would intensify the feeling somewhat. Has anyone else experienced this?

I find that I zone out, whenever my friend parks his car, and my other friend has to get into a store to get something.

There is rarely anything else to do if you are not driving
and there is nothing to do or say.
To OP, I suppose mind relaxes after the concentration and focus
on driving is no longer needed, and the sudden state of mind change
is noticed, since likewise you aren't yet doing anything else.
If the sun makes it hot in the car, that might make you feel tired
(or brain-baked) on top of relaxed.

I think it is a residue of all that forward motion when you are driving and when you stop, your body relaxes and your mind is still processing all that scenery that had been rushing by as you take a mental breather. Yeah, I can space just hanging out in the car. Warmth just enhances it.

Same here. After pulling back into my driveway, and especially when the sun is warming me, I just relax and sit in warm silence ... and sometimes my wife ends up coming over and waking me up after she pulls in.

Yes. I enjoy this very much. I think it has to do with the constant engine and road noise suddenly coming to halt and the insulation properties of the car make an excellent silence.

Like the other guy said, I cherish any chance to "zone out".

I guess one could call Zoning Out a kind of stim, or something that can give a feeling like a stim. I know that when Im driving, I'll get this kind of euphoric sense given the traffic and temp in my car . . . at just the right balance of movement and temp, I can set to my own "auto pilot." It is tricky to maintain given how things can shift quickly on the road, but its ok if im not driving. As for being parked, not sure as my first impulse in a stopped car is to get out (since i prefer being in my home).

I do this whenever I'm being driven (while the car's moving). I can spend literally hours sitting there getting lost in my thoughts.

I have zoned out infront of the tv.

I remember zoning out for a minute or so in the supermarket chocolate aisle.

Try zoning out when you're doing 85mph in the middle lane of the M40 in rush hour traffic. It's a positive hoot.
