16mm film projectors

This thread is mainly aimed at the older members who remember a time when VCR's cost $500+ and can rememeber betamax and VHS tapes being sold side-by-side in department stores for $9.99 a piece.

Since these new wonders of technology cost so much, schools were slow to adopt them, and all through out grade school, when we needed to be shown a flim, it was always on 16mm film.

Anyways, I don't know about the rest of you, but back in 1986, the biggest amount of satisfaction I got in a school day was to be able to watch the projector rewind a giant roll of film when it got near the end, watching the take-up reel speed up faster and faster.

My teachers never understood why I did this, they didn't really care since most of the time we would see films at the end of the day, so after the bell rang to end the day, I would spend the extra 10 minutes after school to watch it rewind.

When ever we would see one during a class period, I would invariable get yelled at for turning around to look at it rewinding since I wasn't paying attention to the lesson. The fascination I had with it was that strong.
