Should there be a day of celebration for our communities - an "Autist Pride Day"
Where we march to show our numbers with our families supporting our strengths and challenges? Where we could voice awareness and advocacy issues and gain media attention to where social change is needed and to injustices that continue? A celebration of the successfull and historic autists who were great contributors and a recognition/rememberance to those who have lost or taken their lives due to on going injustice?
Vote yes or no then post when you think this day should be held and why.

First of all Autism Pride Day shouldn’t be on the 4th of September because mine and Beyoncé Gisell Knowle birthdays will have their thunder stolen. Another argument against Autism pride day will be the fact that you’ll have conspiracy theorist turning up lecturing us all to stop celebrating the Pharmacy industry poisoning us with their vaccinations.
I'm an ordinary NT parent... it is not easy for me. I joined WP to meet people on the spectrum trying to understand how he feels. He's an affascinating alien for me...
Is there also a day of rememberance? - I think there should be, too many have died and suffered injustices, commited suicide or been subject to medical experimentation. I think there should also be a day to remember those people and to recognise the courage we all need to have.

I'm not really into "pride" days for anything as I feel they tend to generate a sense of separateness with and resentment among those not included. It's like arranging a private, members only Christmas LOL.
I tend to think energy and resources can be used more productively.
