I go to a psychoanalyst and he concluded that the only way I communicate with the world is just the content of the words, and I'm unable to communicate or figure out meanings of what people say and stuff through other means (as he said, bodily means). I think he just means that I'm completely incapable of using/analysing any data other than language (the exact words people say). In my own terms I think he means I can't read body language or between the lines or whatever.
He is one of those people who think diagnoses are s**t and don't help and all that.
When I asked him very firmly about a diagnosis, he said: It could be Asperger's, but such behavior is also expected from "schizophrenics who have no psychotic symptoms anymore" and people with personality disorders. and he said he won't give me a diagnosis at all (because he thinks diagnoses are like trying to find shapes in the clouds, very subjective and most of the time not really there).
I've had some psychotic symptoms in the past, but not remotely to the point of going apes**t. And I'm just wondering whether I am a schizophrenic in remission or I just have plain Asperger's.......

Possibly Aspie (diagnosed by an autism expert, doc moves abroad, forced to change docs and all say it's schizophrenia NOS or schizo-affective disorde or personality disorders. initial doc was a colleague of uncle Simon btw. you do the math.). (edit: by Uncle Simon I mean Simon Baron Cohen. Just to clear things up.)

You probably just have assburgers. I used to be diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. I hope I'm not actually in remission and end up having another psychotic episode. I was told my psychosis was due to stress and obsessions and lack of sleep. I haven't had a psychotic episode in 6 years though.

The negative symptoms of schizophrenia match symptoms of autism. They overlap big time. Soooooo. You could have both. But your doctor sound full of BS. Schizophrenics in remission don't act autistic, they act normal or otherwise they would also be diagnosed with an autism spectrum. You should probably get a new doc.

well he didn't exactly said that psychotics in remission act autistic. he rather said that the symptoms I have could be both. Maybe I got that part wrong or over interpreted it. He basically said my disconnection from my senses other than "words" and "their content" could happen in both Asperger's and "Psychosis in remission".

Asperger's would have been evident as a young child, in all likelihood schizophrenia would not. Schizophrenia is really rare in children and often appears in late teens and 20s. The onset of symptoms will make it easy to differentiate the two. Your doctor should know that if he knows what he is talking about, but I am going to guess he does not.
