I'm not sure. Currently I'm getting regular disability benefits ($339/month). Though i just got a letter from the place saying that since i was in navy basic training and got a general discharge (& not a dishonorable discharge) for having Asperger's, that i may be eligible for Veteran's Benefits instead.

Anyone know if this might in fact be likely :? ?
Because to my knowledge, i'd get somewhat more under Veteran Benefits, & so if i could get that instead, it might be preferable.

I can't say with any authority, but Army here ... less than 6 months w/honorable discharge.

To what I know, I can't get VA benefits....not enough time in service to qualify.

I could be wrong, but I have my reasons to not push the matter.

Here's a page for a "calculator" to see if you are eligible. Much will hinge on having an honorable discharge. Another will be having something medically related to military service.

Here's a page with PDFs you can fill out and submit to see if they decide if you are eligible in spite of what the "calculator" determines.

my first response didnt post!! I am getting medical benefits from the VA, so here is the site:
http://www.va.gov/
There is a form you fill out to apply for medical benefits. I was in the AF for 12 years with an honorable discharge, and I have disability from my time in, so I get everything. It took a bit to get the ball rolling though.

I have no idea if you qualify, but did you get any further than basic? If you were discharged for Aspergers, then that is not a service related condition, which leads me to believe you are not going to qualify. But don't take my word for it, do the form (it is easy) and let the VA tell you, OK?
