this is like being back at school.

Basically im still in my probation perioid at my new job. For the first 3 months we are given goals to achieve each month. My meeting with my boss is tomorrow and i havent completed my goal.

Hes a nice guy, i dont think he will be too mad, but ive been busy with my actual job requirements and couldnt really get round to it. Well he will understand that, but then he will probably ask why i didnt mention this before and why i didnt ask for help - eeek what do i say?

Us aspies dont like asking for help (or is that just me?). I admit i was a little bit lazy at times, but thats probably cos i spend hours worrying about what im gonna say on the phone to the next customer, and that seems to make time fly by.

im gonna get fired, i know it. Aarrggh.

Tell him if he asks why you didn't ask for help was that since you are new to this position, you don't feel entirely comfortable asking for help because you're not exactly sure how, who, or what to ask. Tell him that lately, as you have grown more accustomed to the position, you have been feeling more comfortable and have been asking for some assistance recently. Assure him that you will complete the goals that have been set in the near future. You can tell him that you will accomplish those goals by discussing with him exactly what your part in the goals are. Review the goals that have been set and be prepared to talk about any difficulties you may encounter when trying to accomplish the goals. Mention some resources for assistance and maybe ask if he has any suggestions on how to most effeciently and effectively complete your task. Assure your boss that although your goals haven't been completed, you still strive to be an important part of the team.

Hope this helps. I've had to write self assessments for myself for 3 years with the company I'm with now. It's not an easy thing.
