Is it true that children do not get diagnosed PDD-NOS after the age of 5? I was told that they don't do that because by then you are able to tell more the definitive issues, so PDD is really no longer valid and not used.

I got that diagnosis at six or eight and had it for a long time.

No, it's not true. It depends on the doc, I would say, as some of them are very specific about the diagnosis, or have weird feelings about giving it to begin with and all...

It's like some docs won't give AS if the person had a speech delay, but then you get doctors like mine who want to slap it on everyone, speech delay or not.

I have met a LOT of people online who were diagnosed PDD-NOS well after the age of 5, because they lacked one thing from the criteria.

I will take that as a definitive "no"

Thanks Everyone!
