"Censorship" is taking it a little too far. Everyone knows what words you mean to use, after all; and there is nothing that can be said with swear words that can't be said just as strongly without them. Censorship is more along the line of banning ideas, not words[edit]
words ARE ideas. or at the very least, conceptual parts of them. it is censorship if you wish to express a particular stentorian emotion of which profanity is a flagship bearer, and it get's "XXXX"ed out or worse yet, gets a mod warning- the resultant prior restraint is the worst form of censorhip, IMHO. let us not simply whistle past the graveyard of civil liberties, IOW call it what it is-
censorship - it doesn't matter if it is a totalitarian government official, network standards and practices lawyer or a website administrator, it is still the same thing. whole threads have been evaporated because they fell afoul of the personal whims of management. i am irritated with folk who curb my style and then deny they are curbing my style- this smacks of "peeing on my leg and then telling me that it's just raining." in summary, i'd have an easier time with it so long as it is openly acknowledged.

Bleeping out "strong" language is just a way to stop parents from banning their teenage Aspies from WP because they might read the "wrong" words.
[edit]
children should not be exposed to adult content, and 18 legally is no longer in the realm of childhood. so here's a suggestion- change the adult rating to 18, and let it all hang out. the MPAA and the lion's share of the world's movie rating systems believe that 18 is sufficiently advanced an age for people to make their own decisions of what is suitable material for reading or entertainment.
have a nice day
