well, ive observed some things on this sight. people with aspergers tend to be a little more glorified and NTs are a little more... well... not. i do agree aspies have a better sence of what it feels like to be discluded, and we tend to have a bit of a cheerfull disposition and sometimes can be gullible. myself included. but in my personal life i know 5 other aspies. 4 of them are very nice. and then theres this one. i dont mean to be mean but he is just, a jerk. i mean i was in class with him just 20 minuts ago and he whiped me with his BELT! that is just not nice. i mean there are plenty of NTs that i have seen hit other kids with various objects. but this kid just doesent stop. i have known him for 5 years. he just dosent get off my back about anything. granted. i did date his sister a while ago. thats how i meet him. but i was respectfull. we dated for over a year and dident do much more then a peck on the lips. (btw shes one of the 5 aspies) i guess my point is while most of us can get a better connection with other aspies, both us and NTs have plenty of potential to be jack@$ses.

thank you.

Really?

I can't say for certain whether there's even any tendency at all is this respect.

But after reading countless threads in "The Haven" and based on my experiences
with AS/NVLD people in general, I find it hard to believe we tend to have a bit
of a "cheerful disposition".

I know I don't and I believe I have my reasons.

I've noticed that too, but it doesn't bother me too much. This is a site for Aspies so I figure it should be a safe place for that kind of ranting. I'd be offended if it were really extreme, but I'd probably understand too.

Unfortunately you're right. Being an Aspie doesn't make a person automatically nice, smart or whatever. Aspies can have any kind of personality, but their Asperger's will affect what they do with it to some degree. My two eldest sons are Aspies. They are radically different. My youngest isn't NT, but nobody quite knows what he is. He's adorable and wonderful regardless of the label. The Aspies aren't especially cheerful but little guy and I are. Go figure.

I know one little Aspie girl who is so obnoxious and bossy that my kids avoid her at all cost. I know a few who aren't very bright, but more who are pretty sharp.

Cheerful?

I think I've been cheerful once or twice.

"At peace" is usually the closest I get to cheerful.
