Have you ever been daydreaming so bad you almost walk into traffic? I did today.

I walk into streetlights, doorframes, etc. Traffic no, I have more of a hyper-vigilance problem with traffic.

I walk into people when I daydream in the halls of my school.

I daydream but not enough to actually lose touch with the environment.

Daydreaming excessively is the reason I'm not allowed anywhere near traffic. Especially not while operating a vehicle.

You name it.

The trouble lies in me : ADD + eidetic imagery/ memory = powerful and random imagination .

'Eidetic' ability is as the holodeck is on the Enterprise.

Not me. Daydreaming and walking don't go together for me. Walking is usually the time my brain is the most clear and practical. I usually walk around if I'm having an important negotiation with someone on the phone. I also go for a walk with someone if we're discussing big issues. I daydream when I'm sitting or lying down.

I could see myself doing that, but luckily I have not! Today I had to go shopping and I twice walked out into the thru-ways of the parking lot without a thought. I was either daydreaming or deep in thought about something. It hardly matters- both are much the same. The second time I did it I caught myself but then started daydreaming about being hit by a car and all the nastiness that could result from it.

I daydreamed while walking and tripped on the curb.

Just in case anyone reading this isn't aware - concrete sidewalks have no cushion or bounce :eye:

Ouch Ouch Ouch Ouch Ouch!! !! !

That's happened to me, many times, and I stop and ask myself, what I'm doing. I run back to the curb, and wait for the light to turn green.

Almost?

My roommate has grabbed me or my clothing and pulled me back in the nick of time while we were walking. He's not very chatty all of the time, so we're not talking to each other, and I'm lost in my thoughts.

I routinely walk into less hazardous objects. When I'm alone walking, I listen to podcasts because I daydream less than with music, but sometimes, I still find myself in scary situations. Fortunately, I walk a very limited number of routes, so I've learned where to look.

When I was a teenager I once walked three times in front of the same bus on the same day. The driver decided I had a death wish, and told the school to put me on a leash.
