writing article about autism for school paper
after watching the documentary "Autism: The Wall That Knows No Limits", i have been considering this idea on and off.
what i've decided to do is to write an article about autism/Asperger's in my school newspaper, where i would include some of my own experiences. i don't think i could adequately describe some things about it without mentioning how i've been affected by my symptoms. however, this would mean that i would disclose to the whole school.
i don't think there's much at stake, anyway, as i don't really socialize at school. i've overheard someone today saying that i was rude, even though i wasn't intending to be rude. this caused me to make the final decision. and this is my last chance to do this.
what i need is some ideas as to how i should structure it. i'm very nervous about this because it's such a large scale thing, and i need to reach the audience in the right way. knowing how to target a certain audience correctly is a challenge, and i need to do it right.
thank you for any suggestions you might have.

1) Cover some of the major symptoms of AS, not just the ones that relate to you but some of the others as well.
2) Contact some of the other WP members and ask them how they deal with AS, possibly through a questionaire, include plenty of quotations after you have received permission to quote.***
3) Contact a handful of companies and ask the HR department what their policy is on employees with AS
4) Describe a day in the life of an aspie

You are 19 but you say that you are in 'school'. Do you mean High School or are you using the American term for University/tertiary education?
There is no way in HELL I would EVER have mentioned being autistic at my school (if I had known)
There was one kid who had really bad acne and probably dyspraxia, who was known as 'Spaz'
An admission of Autism would have almost certainly earned me the label of 'mental' along with my other aliases
If you are studying at tertiary level, perhaps things might be better although there were some real ass*holes at my University.
As far as the article about Autism itself, I think it's a great idea. Tread a little carefully when it comes to revealing stuff about you and good luck.
You are very brave.
