hello-
new here and am just learning about all of this.
it is interesting reading others common traits.

do many people here have/had asthma or allergies?

re: allergies i am referring to runny nose, sneezing, wheezing, scratching etc - not food & drink

i am 44 yo and back when i was 6-7 or whenever it was they surfaced we were tested for allergens with scratch tests -
i got weekly shots and took pills, for asthma i had many trips to the ER w adrenalin shots & a few oxygen treatments.

is this common amongst AS people? just curious
thanks

I have asthma, hayfever, eczema and when I was getting diagnosed with Aspergers the forms I filled in asked about all of them. According to the person who diagnosed me it's common for people with ASD's to have all of these problems but they don't know why. If you look up what is co-morbid with aspergers there is a huge list of conditions and from what I've seen most people have a mix of them. I think it just adds to our already excessive list of problems.

No asthma, but allergies, and an overactive immune system. Everything causes my nose to run, and the sneezing fits are miserable. I am never sick, which is great, but this immuno-bullying is getting ridiculous, and I'd gladly trade what I have now for a calm immune system and a few colds. I also have type 1 diabetes and Hashimoto's disease thanks to my immune system.

I have Atopic Dermatitis witch is a form of skin eczema but bad sinus allergies can go along with it. It was extremely bad when I was in elementary school. Heat drys out my skin & makes me itch(I live in south Louisiana & It's very hot & humid here) & when I itch; I'd scratch till the itch quit or till I bled witch was often the case. People would bully me cuz of it & other things & when I got frustrated/stressed; I would itch more & scratch more. Picking at my skin was an extremely bad habbit party cuz of the Atopic Dermatitis & cuz I lacked coping skills & I was super stressed. I still have problems but I outgrew some of it as I got older. I try to watch my scratching but my skin's still very sensitive to chemicals; I use special soap, laundry detergent ect, I also find if I put something on my leg for a bit like rest my elbow on it while I'm sitting or something; it leaves a mark for a bit. My skin has been looking pretty good lately thou.
I also have bad sinus problems. This oil in the golf here is making it hard for me to breathe lately; it smells horrible outside at times.
I remember taking those allergy test where they prick my back; I'm allergic to everything on that test. All those docs did was prick my back every couple times I saw em & tell me to use skin lotion that never helped. I think pricking my back that much should be considered a form of abuse  I'm NOT joking.
I'm also allergic to Penicillin but I do not have any kinds of food allergies.

My son has allergies, asthma, including food allergies and intolerances.

Has since he left the womb. Lots of work to keep his immune system humming and try to prevent

allergy exposure, and asthma attacks but it's worth it.

dust and pollen kick my butt. i am prone to sinus infections which progress into chest infections that require several courses of bug killers to tamp down. i have to use a HEPA filter to keep the pollen and dust at bay.
