SSRIs are of the devil in my experience.
I have been through every medication known to Drs and been to the most prestigious Drs in the US.
(Yale, Harvard & Butler Hopsital/Providence, RI)
NO SSRI or any other pill made me feel "better"
They made me feel WORSE.
I do not believe a chemically induced neurotransmitter boost will do sh*t for your quality of life.
The things that have worked best for me were exercise, proper/clean diet, no stimulants (caffeine, nicotine, diet soda, sugar etc, junk food)
Regular sleep. Not too much TV. Nothing overstimulating. I never played video games.
I am 44 and XBox, playstation and online games didn't exist when I was in my early 20's and had my first mental breakdown.
I do not see how anyone w serious sensory issues or depression, anxiety can handle the violence, aggression, noise, and speed of video games.
Keep light natural and dim.
Walk, exercise, meditate.
Your libido will be killed.
Some men w premature ejaculation are prescribed Paxil off label. My arm wore out trying to climax while masturbating on Paxil.
That didn't help alleviate any depression or anxiety!
re: cigarettes.
Go cold turkey. It's the only way. Screw the withdrawl. I was a 2-3 pack a day CHAIN smoker for 25 yrs and quit cold turkey one day.
Just tell your mind you are done and that's it.
All the p**** footing around w patches, gums, and withdrawal drugs is BS and just keeps you mentally attached to the addiction.
Just tell yourself you are a non smoker & that's it.
My experience is SSRI - Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac are seriously harmful drugs.
Furthermore, I didn't even feel much of anything. I titrated up to ungodly amounts and my "mood" never changed.
No pill will change your thoughts or thought processes.
Only you can manage your world - empower yourself and create a livable life.
