Social Cues vs. Conversation Skills?
I am really confused, I am probably going to bring this up to my therapist at some point.
But anyway, he says on one hand, I am not responding to social cues. In fact, the main reason they think I'm schizophrenic on top of bipolar is because of social difficulties (can they even do that?)
But he says when talking to him, I'm friendly and can keep the convo going and displaying eye contact, so I'm probably not an aspie... so umm... what's my social problem again?
Are they diagnosing me because I'm having a hard time making friends and having a good relationship with relatives?
I ask people around me and they all agree that I have bad social skills and I act very strangely.
My childhood psych reports say that I had almost no social skills back then, and they put me through therapy, I remember that therapy.
Oh, and I was reading in the other thread about people not being expressive with their emotions, so does an overly expressive person not fit with the aspie thing?

I think it's important to differentiate between schizophrenia and schizoid personality disorder (SPD). Schizophrenia is a severe psychological problem that needs immediate treatment, where often times SPD is a co-morbidity of ASD. Lack of ability to effectively socialize and thus social isolation can lead to SPD, so treating for social effectiveness should, in theory, cure the SPD.
In order words: social cues = conversation skills.
If your therapist can't express the above in more detail, perhaps you should get a second opinion. But, I may be wrong. Good luck either way.

Anyway, I think I caught myself in what I do.
Today, I was talking to an uncle about streaming movies to my tv. I got so excited that I went on and on, but later and I stopped talking I realized that he was bored earlier and hoped I would stop talking. In school, it said on my reports that I did well on tests on my knowledge about proper social responses, but I failed to do it in real life.
