Since I was a kid I feel I was different, but despite all the differences you already know, inside of my mind I always thought I would change the world.
I mean, contributing with some breakthrough, and I always thought about something on psychology \ human more than science though I'm an engineer.

I always thought it was a result of my problems facing the world (due to AS), plus my religious education.

I was recently diagnosed, and now I wonder if it's a AS thing, since everyone knows most of the guys who changed the world are *suspected* of having AS.

My rational mind knows it does not make any sense, but inside of me it's like a voice telling me the contrary.

I know it is ridiculous. And don't expect anything brilliant from me :P

I feel the need to make the world a more tolerant place, for everybody, and towards neurodiversity.

I used to.

The sooner you have an epiphany that the world does not want to change and you are better off taking on a smaller task that you can make a difference in, the better.

Look at Obama; he had a grand plan to try to change the world and he is going down in flames.

Do I feel as if I'd need to change the world?

Holy crap, do I ever.

Like CockneyRebel said, if only the world could be a more tolerant place for neurodiversity. I mean shoot, why do you think this site's called WrongPlanet?
People seem to think the only problems in the world are war, discrimination, the usual lineup. But the only in-person contact I have with the "outside" world is about three times a week when my church does activities and things, and I have to sit there, dying to strike up a conversation with somebody but just not knowing how, and there they stand in their blasted cliques and chat the night away, completely oblivious of the super-lonely guy on the couch. Then again, sometimes it also feels like everybody blatantly goes out of their way to pretend I'm not there, and it tears my effing heart out.
It feels like I have to change the world just so I can play on the same field as everyone else.

I've always felt a strong urge to make a difference in the world. But, like everything else, it's too big and I don't know where to begin so I end up doing nothing. :(

And then I find myself in a dead-end job that seems utterly pointless, and I wonder why I'm not out there doing something more important. But again, I'm just not sure how.

Combine the three and you get something like 'I feel the need to make the world a more tolerant place, and I will start it with WrongPlanet.'

I have always felt that I will be the next Einstein. I do not take it seriously though. If I DID become famous though, I would relate "Ever since I was a boy....

There's nothing wrong with having a dream, for if you do not have a dream, you cannot have a dream come true. As long as you do not hold your dream in higher esteem than reality.

I feel the same too. Since young, I've always wanted to make a difference, like big difference to the world. And I still do now. Since I've been diagnosed with AS, I wanted to make a difference in the autism community! But I don't know how! I guess I'll find it along the way.

It doesn't matter how ridiculous it sounds, a dream is a dream, and it can come true.

From a very rational place of observation and understanding in my mind, yes.

I know that I may walk on the toes of some people here (we're not all alike), so I'll keep it brief...

I think that AS people have a higher level of dedication and learning to their interest(s) at the cost of not being so well rounded for a reason. They are not weighed down by such things as lofty social pursuits, trends, and the need for constant reassurance from their peers. They are also not constricted by customary ways of thinking/ problem solving, but instead, think outside the box and interpret everything for what it really is. The independent nature also protects AS people from unnecessary influences which contributes to their unorthodox ways of thinking - and because of this - people with AS can more easily become masters in their field - the leaders, the inventors, the pioneers, all without even meaning to do so.

Personally, I think that it's a good trade considering the loneliness, unacceptance, and ridicule (for some) that AS people go through.

Much like the indians, who think the ones gifted with AS inherit the birthright to be a shaman, I too think that AS people make great leaders in religion. Who better to have unconditional dedication to God, without the baggage of social status inclinations, than someone with AS? ... I truly think that AS people are meant for greater things in life.

I when I was about 10 or 11, I began to feel that I had some special purpose in the world, specifically to bring people together spiritually or intellectually. I still did until just a few years ago. I'm burned out now, so.... not so much of that.

For as long as I can remember I've always felt different, that I had some purpose to fulfill, but I've never known what that purpose was. I don't think it was a "change the world" kind of thing, but that I needed to do something that made a difference in the lives of others. I've spent just about my entire adulthood chasing it, and I think I'm getting much closer to finding something I can do that does make a difference.

Whether or not it works out for me is another matter entirely.

I've never felt a great urge to change the world or do some big, special thing for others. I don't feel connected enough to the world to want to influence it beyond getting people to treat me decently or else leave me alone.

As Ozzy Osbourne says  "I don't wanna change the world; I don't want the world to change me" :!:

Most all my life I felt like the world was trying to change me & I HATED it  If I wer to spend my life trying to change the world; I would be NO better than the world is for trying to change me(I do not want to be a huge hypocrite). What I do however is try to change the individual attitude that people have to conform to the world. I encourage people to make their own choices about things. People should have that right. If they want to go with the flow of suciety; it's their choice to make but I do NOT want anyone to be forced to conform. Don't pressure me & I won't pressure you. (Says to self~ "I' sound like such a Libertarian, Secular Humanist sometimes")

"People who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do"

When I get rich I plan to use a lot of the money to help other people on the spectrum, I'm gonna donate millions to autism charities. I like to thank that will change the world for us, if we get more help and support more of us can use our full potential.
