My idea of a perfect life is one where I can live in a place that won’t ever be changed so that I can accumulate and store ‘stuff’ to get back to later. The physical surroundings can be tent, a cave, a room, or a house. The ‘enclosure’ doesn’t make much difference as long as it’s stable and unchanging for extremely long periods of time.
Preferably the ‘place’ would be far away from ‘society’ so when I went outside I didn’t have to look at other people or other people’s ‘stuff’.
No clocks or calendars or telephones would be allowed in my version of a perfect life.
I would have to have unlimited access to books and literally tens of thousands of writing tablets and very fine-tipped felt pens. A good digital calculator would be absolutely essential, as would a typical selection of drafting tools.
Mine would be a waterfront property with a 4 x 4 pickup truck in the driveway and a 22' bass boat and a float plane tied at the dock. The nearest neighbor would be at least 1/4 mile away.
I'll second that one about the no phones. For the books I'd just make my way to the library when necessary. A 'puter with MSWord, some CD-ROMs for my compilations, and a printer would do for my writing. Drafting tools... Good thinking! I'll add a wood-working shop to that.

Of course I’d need someplace to go to the bathroom and a sink but I don’t think that I’d need a tub or a shower.
I gotta have my shower stall. I can't stand
myself when I start to smell like old garbage. I'll add a hot tub and a sauna to that.

I’d like to have pet cat or a dog but somebody would have to make sure that I had food for them to eat.
NO PETS! I won't say what I'll do to neighbors' dogs that come in and defecate all over my land [reaching for a Chinese cookbook]

Food supplies for me could consist of Cokes, candy bars; peanut butter and jelly; bread of course and hot dogs. I’d also want butter, milk, especially chocolate milk. Eggs are an essential in any form. Pastries would rank high up the ladder as being desirable as well.
I'd have a big greenhouse and some acreage for doing organic gardening. I'd even grow my own barley and hops for the beer-making.

I would need a good heat source as I hate to be cold but I don’t mind feeling hot and I think that I’d like a television but only if it had the cable science channels otherwise it’d just be a waste of space.
There would be a wood furnace for heating in the colder times of the year. A wind turbine, solar panels, and a biodiesel generator for generating electricity. No hook-up to any conventional power sourse and thus, no hydro bills!

It would be pretty neat if my Mom and Dad or my wife could come by occasionally and check in on me.
Does this seem weird to you in comparison to what you might consider to be a ‘perfect life’?
I'd invite chosen friends and loved ones for visits and I'd visit others when I'd want a change of routine for some time, and no, it doesn't seem weird to me. It looks like something read out of Harrowsmith magasine
