I hate condiments! Mayonaise, mustard, catchup, etc. Never liked them. They have a weird texture and are way overpowering.

The reason I bring this idiosencrasy up is that I've heard that many Aspies have food sensitivities, especially when it comes to runnier textured food like gravy dressings and condiments. This is a weird question, but,is it possible that my hatred of condiments could be caused by AS? Do you have any food sensitivities?

food sensitivity is probably one of my main aspergers symptoms.

I don't like hot food, much prefer cold and if something is cooked then I leave it to cool down. as a kid there was loads I wouldn't eat, it was said I was just a fussy eater but I couldn't stand the texture and smell of certain foods. As an adult I am much better in terms of textures but I don't have a varied diet and just stick to the few meals I like. I have eaten the same lunch that I get from a cafe behind my office every day for the past 12 months, much to the amusement of my colleagues, and the guy that serves in the cafe

I believe the issues with food are because it affects multiple senses. I can't think of any other stimulation that fires up smell, taste and touch all at the same time.

Somebody else has the issues with condiments too! I have also always had this, and I have some other food sensitivities as well. People always think that I am crazy for eating everything plain, but that’s just the way I like it. I never use condiments either.

I love condiments! It's the actual foods I have issues with, due to texture. I love the flavour of fruit, but cannot eat it as it feels too soft. Condiments allow me to eat vegetables by distracting me from their texture. How's that for weird?

I'm exactly the same, except that I can eat fruit but not most vegetables.

Ketchup is fine, Mayo is fine. I'm generally not a fan us Mustard, but it's OK on a Hamburger as long as it's not Dijon Mustard. I don't usually put pepper on food other than what is put in when cooking it as part of a recipe.

One thing that really bothers me is green beans and pickles. I like the taste of both, but the squeaky sound they make against my teeth when I eat them drives me NUTS. I don't know anyone else IRL who has this issue, but I do know there are several people on this board do, so I do think that is probably related to my ASD.

I love the squeaky sound of green beans. :D

The foods I absolutely cannot eat are a bit of a mixed bunch. I can't eat butter, margarine or anything similar, mayonnaise, coleslaw, mushrooms of any sort, fatty meat, avocados, overripe bananas, or cold things that should be hot such as soup. I love cooking though and will try anything else. I do like to crunch whole peppercorns at times which usually makes people wince when I tell them.

I don't like any condiment that basically isn't relish or ketchup.

I love condiments, but food sensitivity can come in any variety of form. I went through a phase, from the ages of about six to eleven, when I wouldn't eat anything but beige and off-beige foods. I still hate most colored foods. I also prefer to eat in serving groups of three, which is another weird facet of ARFID. Everyone is different.

My issue's with texture first, less or more subtle stuff second.

Condiments? Usually depends how it is made.
Even ketchup alone is a bit tricky -- I'd like certain brands of banana ketchup, certain sweetness, certain spices, certain sourness, and sometimes I prefer mixing certain ketchups it with certain mixes and recipes of other condiments. And at the same time, I don't like certain sweetness, sourness, and likely don't like it spicy. Etc. Yet I'm very certain that I don't like ketchup that is too liquid-y.
