I just got this game called Battlefield: Bad Company 2. It is a fighting game, and it has a really nice multiplayer. There is a mode called Rush, and in it there are two sides: attackers and defenders. Attackers must destroy 8 objectives. Defenders have unlimited 'tickets', which is how many times they can respawn. Attackers have around 50. The whole attacking side can only respawn 50 times total, so each death reduces this increment by 1!

There are snipers which is good long range, obviously. However, every round there is about 2 or more people who are on the attacking side that snipe and do not destroy the objectives. This means that there are less people attacking the objectives! Killing the defense does nothing, absolutely NOTHING, to help the team.

This is not halo. The only way to win as the attackers is to destroy all 8 before you run out of respawns. Killing only increases your points to level up. It doesn't, at all, help your team. This is crucial, because this is a team game!

Is this an NT thing? Why are people this selfish and dumb? Why?

Why do people enjoy killing other humans in a VR simulator and calling it a 'game'?

I've never played the game, but I can think of a number of tactical uses for sniping like that. They could be trying to hinder the defense long enough to let the rest of the offense do their job. They could be trying to get at some of the defensive players psychologically, and make them play badly because they're frustrated. They could be sniping defensive players in key positions to weaken their defensive position, allowing the rest of the offense to destroy an objective. They could be trying to counter potential defensive snipers, which from the sound of it would probably be devastatingly effective against your offense.

But even if sniping as offense is as dumb as you say, there's no reason to think they are being selfish or that this is an NT thing. Maybe they just really like sniping.

Either they really like sniping or they're n00bs. I'd probably do the same since I suck badly at those kinds of games and don't know what I'm supposed to be doing half the time.

Of course if the game was like real warfare there would be squad leaders and commanders and soldiers would have to do what they're told or face disciplinary measures. But then the game wouldn't be as fun.

What does this have to do with being NT?

I don't know, really. I tried to relate what I was saying to it being something about autism. I just wanted to vent my frustration.
