When I was in school there were several times where some bully was hitting me or tormenting me in some way in front of the teachers who was somewhat amused by the bullies actions. When I defended myself the teacher would explode almost like saying how dare you hurt this child. You would not believe how many times this happened to me when I had to do something outside of the special education classes I was in. Has anyone else ever experience anything like this? How did you react?

I've had that happen to me, a few times. I told my Sped teachers, when it happened and the classes that it happened, were over, and the nice teachers, straightened the nasty teachers out, and told them not to do that to me, again.

Yes. As a kid though things were different. It be and me and bully who get in trouble but by 6th grade, it was only me getting into trouble. They only did name calling and harassment and sometimes they spit at me. Plus they egg me on to do stuff. So when I defend myself, I be the one in trouble. The school principal just didn't care so she always sided with them. She believed I needed to toughen up.

There were times online too where I stand up for myself and I be seen as the bad guy.

In real life and online, people stick up for their friends rather they started it or not. Even if they aren't friends with the bully, they still side with them for some reason. Maybe because they like them more. Plus they tend to discriminate the odd.

No, I have never had that happen to me, but I have witnessed it many times. It doesn't only happen in school, either. It can happen in the workplace to adults.

I grew up before diagnosis was available, so my childhood experiences of bullying (and they were myriad) could not be evaulated in terms of my social deficits. With the clarity of hindsight, I have been much better able to understand my bullies' actions. While not excusing their behaviour, or my own, the understanding does allow me to better understand my circumstances.

I went to an extremely good, private boys' school. The general approach in my school was an early form of zero-tolerance for fighting, which meant that both parties involved in a fight would be punished. Pleas of, "I didn't start it!" fell on deaf ears. That being said, teachers were far more perceptive than I realized about what was going on, and I suspect I was the beneficiary of more than one incident of convenient interference.
