I don't know whether to call my dr and see how his search for someone to diagnose me is. It's almost 3 weeks now. I don't know how long I'm supposed to wait? Is it ok to call the dr's office and ask how much longer or what the hold up is or what. I don't know. I'm frustrated. I'm starting to obsess about it all and I'm really just kinda stagnant in my life right now. I'm doing what I have to do and that's about it. I'm actually only going to about half my shifts at work too. 8O It's only part time but I'm not sure how I'm going to explain to my husband that I can't pay all of my own bills this month because I've been having other people take my shifts. I purposely didn't write my work hours on the calendar like I normally do so he isn't really aware of when I'm supposed to be at work. Ooops sidetracked. Sorry.

Anyway, what would you do? Call your dr's office or just suck it up and keep waiting like he asked you to do.

Is this for a lab test? I would have asked the doctor for an estimate of when the results will be ready, and then I would have called the doctor's office the minute I didn't get an answer when expected. They make mistakes, you know, and your results could have been sitting in your file the entire time you were fretting.

Doctors are busy and see a lot of people. This is probably not as high a priority for him as it is for you and likely he's been busy with other patients and simply forgotten. It wouldn't hurt to call his office and leave a message with his staff inquiring on the progress of the search. It won't be inconveniencing him at all, and a reminder might facilitate action.

Three weeks is a long time. I would call and just ask if he has been able to locate anyone to Dx you. I wouldn't ask what the hold up is or let him know you are annoyed, just inquire about the progress of the search, which will serve as a reminder.

Thanks guys.

I worked up the nerve to call. The receptionist was like "oh yeahhhhhh, I have a number for you to call" and then takes 5 mins to even find it for me. GRRRRRRRRR!! !! !! !! !! ! I've been freaking out for probably a week and a half and she probably had the freaking number the whole time?!?!?! ugh.

I thought it would be covered because the dr referred me. But really he didn't refer me because *I* have to call them myself so it's going to be out of pocket. I'm so not sure what to do now. :( I read the forums and info online and I"m like 90% sure I have AS but then I get doubting myself and get all confused. I guess cost is going to determine whether I can do this or not and what my husband says who ISN'T very supportive at all.

If I don't find out I'm going to obsess and wonder for the rest of my life. I WANT to know wtf is wrong with me for my own sanity and for the genetic side of it all for my kids sakes and future grandkids, etc.
