I liked those movies. Everyone's got a different combination of symptoms of severities, so it's all going to seem exaggerated to someone.. But they seem like realistic enough portrayals of how certain autistic individuals could act.. And from what i've read, the Temple Grandin portrayal was pretty accurate.
I related to a lot of stuff in Mozart and the Whale. Isabelle seems to be more on the mild end in a lot of ways.. She seemed almost normal to me, except for a few things like freaking out over the metal noises. Donald shows a lot more outward anxiety than i usually do i think.. but his stimming by kind of swaying back and forth and shaking his hands is something i do some of. And i think that normally i communicate a little bit better than him. As far as organization goes, i identify very much with Donald's lack of it. And i don't like people completely rearranging my mess, either.. lol. I don't have any super-awesome savant abilities, though. My mom thinks i'm somewhere between the two of them in severity.. but closer to Donald in most ways. With a few things they did, my mom said it was something i'd probably do.. like in the beginning when Donald walked away from the accident.
With Temple Grandin i related to some stuff too, but not quite as much. When someone says something weird, i often get a strange literal picture of it in my head, even if i know what they mean by it.. I wouldn't say i'm a primarily visual thinker, though. I also have a deep love for animals and like pressure. My speech is more "normal" and i've never been afraid of things like automatic doors(although i was afraid of paper mache as a kid, lol). She seems more outgoing and driven in general than i am, too.
