Wautism : Melodramatics who think there autistic
OK this is starting to get on my nerves, and it sortof links in with 'self diagnosis' but not completely. I Am talking about something i call Wautism (Wannabe Autistic people). Now these people are Melodramatic, often 'emo', and undoubtedly pseudoindividualist.
But back to the point, Emos always pretend to have some sort of mental illness or condition and it gets on my nerves. They meet on forum's, complain that 'nobody understands them' (When everyone does). What they are going through is normal teenager stuff and they get told this. but OOHH NOOO, there too good for experiencing what other people have, they need an exuse for feeling sorry for themselfs, and demanding Symphany all the time.
and so they just decide they suffer from the first mental disability that comes into their head. Traditionally this has been Clinical Deppression, and then you got them pretending to have Schitzophenia, OCD, Bipolar, Borderline, ive even heard some of them say they are 'sociopaths', and often they pretend to have more then one mental illness. I came across some idiot claiming to have Clinical Deppression, OCD and Bipolar deppression, clearly he was lieng since those three conditions cannot co-exist (OCD Is often accompinied by some symptoms of deppression and deppression is often the cause of OCD, but you see what i mean).
I have never met an Emo who genuinly had any mental condition at all, they are all just melodramatic time wasters often (However I wont judge if someone is an emo, i dont mean to offend anyone). The real danger of this trend is that it warps peoples views and knowledge on mental health, and people who do need help dont get it since nobody knows what to expect anymore. Most people with a mental illness or condition dont go around telling this to everyone.
Recently however i have realised they have started to do this with Autism, Especialy Aspergers Autism. Since there has been alot of publicity about autism in recent years, and emos love television. So the latest cool thing to feignt is Autism, Great!. I have came across many people claiming to have a 'mild form of aspergers' or 'autistic tendancys' when they clearly do not!. I find it odd that they decide to do this with autism since, unlike other popular things to fake autism is not an illness. It is something you are born and develop with, I kinda wonder why we dont then have people going around pretending to have 'mild downs syndrome' or something, then again, things like Downs are probably 'uncool' in the Emo world.
the biggest blow into the coffin for this though is that, Wautistics are always complaining about how hard life is for Autistic people, and how they wish they could just fit in and be 'normal', and this fuels the whole 'cure autism' thing. most REAL autistic people are happy to be autistic and dont want to be 'Normal'. Im sure most people here know that too well, but Wautistics are greedy for symphany and so will pull out any card from there sleeves for this, even if it is indirectly at the expense of the people they are feigning.
Yes it is the real Autistics who get the short straw due to Wautistics actions, Whats worse is that people have warped ideas about autism now and we now have people expecting autistic people to be sociable, when anyone who knows anything about autism knows that autistic people cant be sociable the same way NT's can be (Wautistics dont know anything about autism, they honestly dont).
I say this because, In my school, there are Wautistics. I am the only autistic person in my school but there are plenty of Wautistics, Im usualy in the learning center but I never bother telling people i have Autism, People usualy just decide I have 'something'. But recently someone actualy asked me what I had and I said 'I am autistic' and they went 'really' and i said 'yes'. and they go 'Isent that what so-and-so (the Wautistics) have', and i just say 'no, they are fake'. This person concurred with me, then word got out round the school that i was Autistic. Now most people dident care, but guess who was bothered by me being autistic, the Wautistics.
So then during Lunch the Wautistics confronted me, in there wannabe-goth glory. 'Hey you' they said 'stop pretending to be autistic' I said that i was autistic and that I had been diagnosed but they where having none of it! I dident pay them much attention but most of what they said was 'Im autistic and i get on fine' your just lazy, stop giving us a bad name' and so on. Then they eventualy decided that I was the Wautistic, and that 'Real autistic people arent like you, stop faking'. this angered me so i stood up and said that 'Real autistic people are socially blind and dont identify with Subcultures, emo!'. at this they got really angry at me and tried to hit me but i just ran.
Although most people dont believe the Wautistics (i am notably smarter then them). some people do still believe that i am the fake and that i am 'Exaggerating what ive read off the internet'. Appareantly Autism doesent actualy effect people anymore.
if you read all that welldone, I dont want to upset you, I dont have anything against Emo's, just Wautistics, and if you happen to be a Diagnosed autistic who happens to be emo thats fine too.

^^Greetings Leekduck, and thank you very much for your post.
I am very sorry about the humans making fun of you at your school. I believe this is very mean of them to claim that you do not possess autism and to bully you. However, also, I believe that great care must be taken when speaking of others that are not aggressive. In many cases, there may be a reason that they believe they have a condition. This may be isolation, for instance, or depression.
I am very sorry if I have been horrible.
Wautistics do exist and are highly annoying. The only people that would get offended by what you wrote are wautistics. It is insulting to have people like this around you because they hate anyone who really has autism because it takes away from their sympathy and their attention. They go around spreading lies about autism and try to make you out to be the one who doesn't have autism.

You werent horrible, I agree what you said there, And i do try to be careful not to offend people. Even wautistics, since i dont really know them it could turn out that they do have a mental condition that i just dident know about
that would suck, never heard of wautistics before- seems like they would try and copy you instead of accusing you if they really wanted to be autistic...but sounds like they use autistic as a way to gain some type of popularity/pity, which in itself makes them not autistic- probably.
should have asked them about their favorite topics or something...seen what they come up with and how well they can cover them. Or probably best to ignore them and let them act as fools trying to fit into a group that doesn't fit in, maybe they think they are being rebels....

I am ignoring them just now, I think If i just ignore them and continue on my usual business, they will prove themselves foolish since they are now slightly obbsessed with trying to get to me.
the reasons you never heard of 'wautistics' before is because i made the word up
I had a few "special education classes" in intermediate school and there was a strange girl who came to class while under the influence of drugs and scratched herself with a paper clip.. the teacher said she had ADHD. Not that I cared.. none of my business. I just didn't want to get any blood-borne diseases.

This is sort of off-topic, but this thread reminded me of the teenage girls who claim to be bisexual. It's gotten to the point that whenever a young girl tells me that she's bi, I can't help but skepticize her.
I'm all for free loving and tolerance and all that, but please don't claim to be something you're not, because it only hurts the people who truly are autistic, or bisexual as the case may be. ![]()
