I sometimes feel why do I open my mouth 2 examples. I told older sis "Hey I found a Mario backpack" she said for you? I said no him (AKA nephew) she was Oh he wouldn't like that. (Not yelling but defensive like I guess is the term) Another example at my mom's new High School they had books in the cafeteria I said oh oh I could use the Biology book. Mom was like "It's high school though. (again in an IMO negative tone) (I know College is general education so far for me) I'm not majoring in Biology just taking a Bio course and if past courses are to go by the AA degree is nothing more than high school stuff! So does your family give responses like this? Defensive and IMO rude/harsh? Thanks.

ya, I don't really talk to my dad because he's going to shoot down my ideas or not listen to them at all. And when I tell my brother my plans though he is a great brother in every other regard, he constantly shoots down my hopes/dreams unintentinally....(probably gets this aspect of himself from my dad as I know i do it myself as well at times).

This negativity sometimes leaves me numb at the head because of trying to keep thoughts to myself which i feel very passionately about and either persueing them in secret or throwing them in my minds recycle bin and hoping they get picked up at the curb.
