I could do this when I was younger too but I needed to listen to music with headphones on full blast as I was falling asleep, and I could sleep through the night that way. I don't need the headphones anymore, I can hear music in my head, all of the instruments and everything, I kind if feel like I'm singing along and I can see the lyrics scroll across my mind like they scroll across the TV screen when you sing Karaoke. Word for word, it happened earlier, I usually wake up if the lyrics don't seem right. I woke up earlier because I wasn't sure about one of the words to a Jackson 5 song but it turned out to be right.

Anyway, this didn't happen to me for a few years, but I also used to be able to have lucid dreams as a child. I want to try and get back into those. Anyone else?

I occasionally have that kind of experience, and it certainly can be comforting whether asleep or awake. The more recent one that amazes me, however, is that of either singing or following along (while aware I am asleep) with a song I have never before heard and might not even exist, as far as I know. I find that just as enjoyable, or even a bit more, but I can make no sense of it.
