I don't know if anyone else does this so I was curious. Yesterday I found a ball on the floor. It's blue, rubber and fits into my hand. I was disproportionately taken with the blue ball - I was playing with it all day. Bouncing it around, rolling it, tossing it from hand to hand, squishing it or just staring at it. Does anyone else get really interested by simple items that would be uninteresting to anyone else? To anyone else, it's a blue rubber ball. Nothing to be excited about.
Anyone else see a fascination with objects?

I don't know if I'd use the word fascinated since I don't really think about doing it but sure I'll pick up something and fiddle with it for few hours.

Last night a friend handed me a rubber bouncing small. It hasn't left my side since... I even sleep with it. It is just something that I find comfort in. I don't have any empathy towards it, I don't consider it special. It just comforts me for some reason.

I've found a green ball, a year ago, and I was doing the same thing.

Rocks, sometimes. And shiny glass pebbles. They're just nice to fiddle with.

This is supposed to be sexually-based/sexual innuendo that's supposed to be funny, correct? That would probably account for why I don't get it. Then again - jokes = seldom my strongsuit. Sexual jokes doubly so. :?

I tend to pick up objects from people's desks at my Dad's office and fiddle with them incessantly.

Don't fight it. Let it all out.

As for the ball, I have occasionally picked up a few inanimate companions now and again. It'd be hard to say exactly what they were, because they were usually strange things that I couldn't quite define. Weird little plastic things shaped to look like they were designed for some purpose, but with me having no idea what their purposes may have been. I'd often try using them to fill various roles as tools to see how it worked out.

I haven't picked up one of these inanimate companions in years, oddities on the internet have tended to take their place instead, but the other day I found something in my kitchen, and I think I still have it somewhere. Let me take a picture.

I haven't found many uses for it yet. So far all it has done is help me wipe some cactus pulp out of the drainage holes in a big plastic cookery spoon. Don't ask. :?

Does anyone know what it actually is?

i often do this with things that engage both the senses of touch and sight. at a restaurant the other day, my friend pointed out the neat texture of the menu. it was synthetic leather, i think, sort of like moleskin... i could not stop rubbing my hands on it, it felt so nice. i felt like i wanted to consume it somehow - not eat it but absorb it. i dunno. i can't describe it. i used to feel like this about erasers and rocks. i sometimes still carry a rock in my pocket to touch.
