Changes in routine or places that you frequent
Do major changes in scenery such as construction in an area you're used to being around or changes in certain routines shake you up a bit? If so, what are they and how do you usually handle it? For example, they totally ripped up the sidewalk near a place I usually go & put in a brick one and I stood there for a minute like, [i]"WHAT THE!?!?!?!"[i]
They are CONSTANTLY changing everything, and yes, I find it disturbing. Eventually I get used to the new, and they change it again.
But the opposite can be as bad. I revisited a place I had spent time; I walked down a path that was unchanged even after years away, and I was suddenly not sure what year it is and how old am I.
It drives me crazy when the Cincinatti Zoo decides to change it's exhibits. I think my special intrest in manatees and marine life dying is a result of them tearing down my favorite exhibit, the aquarium that had been there since the thirties or fifties. Most of my plesant childhood memories happened in there and I had so few plesant childhood memories to begin with. Now they are lost. They tore it down to make an exhbit about Flordia wildlife. Someone please explain to me why making an exibit about Flordia is necassary in Ohio? They also removed the jaguars and replaced them with an ocelot subspecies that they bred artifically. Then, the replaced the cougars with coatis which aren't even a cat. The one exibit that needs to be replaced is the reptile house because it echos and the snakes and lizards are litteraly crammed in there. The echo's must drive the snakes crazy. They don't want to tear it down because it was there since forever. The old bird house (I barely remember it) and aquarium were there since at least the thirties and they tore those down. They also need to redo the cat house because the cats are crammed in there (the snowleopard hardly has any leg room) and pace like mad. They don't want to tear it down because it is historical. The aquariam and bird house were too.

I'm not weird, you're just too normal.
I am not that bad about changes in routine (and don't think I truly fit that criterion well)...HOWEVER, others say I'm a creature of habit. And don't mess with my coffee shop. Ever see that Frasier episode where Café Nervosa gets a musician and absolutely ticks Frasier and Niles off, and they go around to every coffee shop in Seattle trying to find a decent one? That's me.
I had to switch coffee shops about a month ago due to management idiocy, and I complained to corporate, but I haven't been able to work up the nerve to go back there for all this time and it drives me up the wall because on one hand that was the perfect coffee shop in terms of layout and the other employees--but I don't want to go back and be "the complainer," should they put 2 and 2 together.
