I'm just asking this because when I reply to someones thread on obessions I don't see anyone saying anything about them. Other people's obessions seem more important than my own. Well for me Tigers aren't lame. Final Fantasy series isn't lame either. All my ideas that I've written my novels on are from Final Fantasy series video games. I'm almost thinking of creating a novel on the continuation of a game. That'll mean I'll have to ask Square Enix for the promission. Not just fan fiction but a spin from it. These obessions of mine back me who I am. Tigers are my longest obession that I have. It'll be forever my long lasting obession for life.

I don't think an obsession could ever truly be considered lame, unless you somehow have an obsession with watching paint dry or grass grow.

My obsessions are Pharmaceuticals and the English language. Many people could consider mine a waste of time and lame. Whos to say, if you enjoy them you enjoy them.

When I was a kid I was completely enamoured with the Final Fantasy series of games, but, as I aged and got into drugs and self-medicating I fell out of videogames.

That's not lame guy. My obsession is videogames, and Metal Gear Solid most of all, and you don't hear me complaining. I love it! And if I could just get past my darn Attention Deficit or whatever my deal is, I could unleash onto the world a whole bunch of cool ideas/projects having to do with MGS. I really wish I could, I'd get into other videogame projects too, although typically, my main obsession leads the way.

Don't let anyone tell you its lame. We are in fact lucky to be AS people who have normal kind of 'interest' obsessions that you could actually join community forums for and stuff online to make friends by. I figure those with more 'typical' AS type obsessions, like obsession about makes and models of different door knobs or whatever, are far less likely to find a community 'home' and friends to discuss these things with, and more likely to feel alone with their interests. So consider yourself lucky that way. I do. And if anyone says its lame, hey, you don't have to be associating with them.

Yeah I KNOW! This is even more enlightening than finding out I have AS! I think AS is less of a problem for me than just this attention problem alone and how much it ruins my whole life and makes me feel like a failure! I haven't officially been diagnosed yet, but I'm gonna see someone about that soon. You should look into it too! Glad I could help.

yeah i know i probably have add but i should see for myself.
and AS doesn't seem so bad and if it wasn't for add i'd have tons of projects finished because of my OCD. :)

I was obsessed with Final Fantasy 7 in particular, and I used to talk about it so much on the school bus 6 or 7 years ago that kids made fun of me, so I had to force myself to stop. I finally moved onto other things years later, but I still feel nostalgic sometimes and want to play the game. Perhaps I shall do that tonight :)

EDIT: LOL, left out the main point of my post. I don't think it is lame at all, if you enjoy it, have fun doing it, it is as simple as that!

someone made fun of you for liking a cool game like ff7. O_O that ain't right.
i know if anyone made fun of my obsessions that's another enemy for life right there and that said person would get no respect from me whatsoever.

Trust me, in high school getting respect from me wasn't a high priority on anyones' minds. I wanted their respect to stop the bullying!

I do have to admit though, I did talk about it A LOT....more than what was socially acceptable, and I failed to understand that I was annoying people.

My obsession has to do with rivers, like it has for the past many years. Right now, though, my obsession seems to be hanging near asperger's syndrome. My obsessions at one time were very transient, changing every six months or so, usually based on places I have gone to. What causes something to click within me and get me interested? I can't say. I also have a couple of less intense, secondary interests. Other than that, I do a lot of research on the computer regarding them. People probably think much of my life is boring.

But, our obsessions aren't lame. Besides, if you're on a thread where someone asked what your obsessions were, there's probably little chance people are going to reply about others' obsessions. It's just about asking what ours are. So many obsessions will have been listed, and most people aren't going to reply to something they don't connect with, especially people with AS.

As far as unusual obsessions, I once read about some guy with AS who liked to throw electronic equipment off of a cliff and record the sound it made as it fell down the rocks and busted apart. Now, that's one of the strangest I've come across.

I don't find most obsessions to be strange. I use to have a mini obsession with FF, probably not to your extent, but I can say that there is nothing odd about it at all, it's a great game series anyway :)

tigerfire, i dont think your obsessions are lame at all. i can totally understand why someone likes tigers. as far as final fantasy, im not too familiar with that game series, but i know a lot people who are fans of it. most especially one guy i went to high school with. he liked FF so much you could say he was borderline obsessed with it. on the very day that FF10 came out, he stayed home from school claiming he was "sick", just so he could play the game like 15 hours that day. 8O

so no, i wouldnt be so concerned about the quality of your obsessions.... its just, with any person that has AS, making sure the obsessions dont take over your life too much and that you can actually talk to peers about things other than those obsessions.

I have a few friends like that, eric. They stay home for new World of Warcraft patches and miss physics test. I kind of consider that lame...
