Psychology
Is anyone out there a psychologist, or in the process of becoming one?
I've just started reading for our professional skills section and how to attract employers, and all I keep coming up against is 'team-work', 'interpersonal skills' and 'adaptable graduates who are very receptive to change'. It is starting to really scare me!
I would like to know your thoughts on how you over came these problem areas and suceeded, resulting in the job you have always wanted.
Any advice is very much appreciated (regardless of whether you have studied psychology).
I am going for my doctorate in psychology, with a minor in communicative disorders (autism, etc).
To be honest, I chose this field because in the things I want to do, such things are not often an issue.
If you have severe issues in such areas, a behavioral therapist would be helpful to an extent. You can teach yourself some phrases and responses for typical situations.
I know how you feel...it is daunting. All you can do is your best. That is where deciding about disclosure comes in. If they have an understanding that you have different needs and issues, it could clear up some problems.
Let me know if you have more questions...
