One thing that may characterize me is my lack of ability to form a habit. For example, I have never in my life, despite all the insistence from authority figures, developed a habit of brushing my teeth or even showering. There are times when I will do it more as others expect, but eventually doing so will become revolting and painful; I then cease trying to develop the habit.

Habits, though, that I can adopt seem to be random. In other words, I have no idea if something will become a habit. I developed some habits related to "becoming used" to Japanese, for example. There are some things I like to do again and again, but at some point even those end up becoming revolting and painful. For example, I often listen to or watch stuff on my TV through either TV Japan, Japanese DVDs on my region-free DVD player, or Japanese media on my USB drive--I have a TV that can show media on a USB drive. However, at the moment I cannot stand to watch anything on television, only on Youtube or Nico Nico Douga.

Anyone else with similar issues.

I am the exact same way. Even when i want something to be a habit just like the examples you gave, brushing teeth and showering, i just can't do it but other things like how i put on my socks just happens and i can't change it.
