Do you mean why do people with AS seem to lack empathy?

Because we have a different set of cues. It's like we speak a different language. You'll note that when we meet people who speak our language, we have far less trouble. There's nothing inherent in us that stops us from doing these things; it's just that there's a barrier to understanding. Can't feel someone's pain if you don't know they're feeling pain.

I have not noted NTs relating that deeply. Nor much empathy that perceives me.

I think this is what the OP means.

Some with AS claim they don't lack empathy, which is great for them, but they also try to tell others they don't lack it either.

I can sympathize with people, because logically I can understand their situation. I mean, if somebody got hit by a car and they're in the hospital, of course I know it sucks, and I can say to them, "Damn man, that sucks. Anything I can help with? Care for your pets maybe?" That doesn't mean I empathize with them.

Empathy is on a whole other level I think. I lack it, but I believe that I'm also developing it more as I get older. Sometime in my early twenties I started to experience knew emotions when related to other people.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for OP. I suggest you do some reading on empathy if you haven't already.

if you made a full sentence, would it be:
a) why don't As people seem to feel empathy toward anyone
b) why don't AS people seem to feel empathy towards NTs
c) why don't AS people seem to feel as deep an empathy as NTs do
d) why don't AS people seem to feel empathy to people with a deeper impairement that they have
e) Why don't AS people seem to be able to make a casual connection with NTs
f) why don't AS people seem to be able to make a casual connection with other AS people
g) why don't AS people seem to be able to make as deep a connection as NTs do with other NTs with AS people
e) why don't AS people seem to be able to make a deeper connection with other AS people than with NTs
do you want to make your own sentence perhaps?

This is another factor I keep forgetting. NTs communicate on a different level. They can communicate an idea without saying a word, or communicate ideas indirectly with words.

For example, if somebody who typically does the dishes in your house hold indicates how they don't have enough time to do them, they very well might be asking you indirectly if you'd do them instead. This is just an idea, not a 100% fact.

Body language of course. I wonder how much of this NTs even understand. Do they understand it logically or is it something they know without knowing? I remember reading a book that described when people were using silent communication to indicate a threat or other such stuff, and I thought it "made sense" because it was a story, so whatever. Later, I learned that stuff is actually real!

I just lack empathy. I have sympathy, but not empathy. I don't get how others feel empathetic, it doesn't seem all that logical to me.

I was starting to agree, but I think I'm confusing NTs with extroverts. Introverted NTs seem to be really good at relating to other people.
