Are you good at determining the composition (spacing elements of a picture across the scene so that it's "balanced" and appealing to look at) of a picture or framing a photograph (knowing where the element of focus should be in the frame, what to include, etc.)? Can you create appealing color schemes?

Apparently, an aesthetic eye is considered to be a feminine characteristic; but I seem to have this. This is very good for designing websites, for example. It also means I prefer to dress half-decent if I've got enough clothes clean.

Feminine or not, an aesthetic eye is crucial for any artist to have!

Feminine or masculine - dunno about that. I'm a shemale, I've always been aesthetically inclined. I wanted to study fine art but due to parental pressure started uni studies in Architecture, completed a BA in industrial design (only 2 females graduated that course in my year) and am now a graphic designer. According to the folks around me I have an excellent sense of form, colour and composition. This however, does not mean that I know how to dress myself or home decorate. My boyfriend and work mates feel the need to supervise my wardrobe (and occassionally throw out my favourite comfy clothes) - apparently I have no idea when it comes to my personal space. It's all academic for me! I know a lot of men with excellent aesthetic sense - after all historically, weren't the men the artists, designers and architects (in the public eye that is)? Women's creativity was restricted to the home environment and their personal appearance (within the constraints of the fashion of the time - often influenced by men's requirements). Ooh dear, that sounded a bit like a femanist rant - sorry it's not meant to be - what I'm trying to say is that I think creative/aesthetic bias has a lot more to do with personality type than gender.

Being an aspiring illustrator, I would atleast like to think I have an aesthetic eye.

LOL, asparval.

why, in particular, is the possession of an (or even two) aesthetic eye(s) relate to the colour scheme (please note "u") of the WP site?
