I had a cookout at my older sisters house and there was a misunderstanding. Me/mom/relative were discussing a school district issue. She mention something then I said no "this" she said NO! and she totally confused me and tossed me off guard since I knew I was right but she never gave me a chance to explain myself. I left the room. Looking on it I've said a lot of wrong things at cookouts there in the past. Perhaps I need to keep my DAMN MOUTH SHUT!! !! 2 other times. Once I cracked a "joke" what I thought was a joke about drilling someones broken leg then my brother in-law said someone should drill my broken knee (I ran into the bathroom crying) Another time an in-law mention his Brown Recluse bite and I said Oh that's nothing. He seemed shocked/appalled. My older sis said "Oh she just means she has seen worst on documentaries that's all." So like I said perhaps go over there and NOT SAY ANYTHING!

We AND They get super sensitized. Everyboxdy expects stuff to happen while hoping maybe it won't.

Just keeping quiet is not a surefire solution. Ofvten when I have kept my mouth shut I have been chastised for not participating.

You talk to them, they snap at you, you run away crying.

You talk to them, they snap at you, you run away crying.

You talk to them, they snap at you, you run away crying.

Do they collect points, or did your parents tell their extended family and friends behind your back that snapping at you/insulting you is a sure-fire way to get you out of the room?

Either THEY find a more sensitive way of dealing with their annoyances, or YOU have to control the waterworks.

You should try the Megaten series(aka Shin Megami Tensei). There's two games from that huge series out now for DS if you like JRPGs.
