When I was a kid I had a really hard time knowing when to stop smiling at someone when they made a joke or said something nice to me. I remember a time when I was on the bus with my camp counsellor and she made a joke (which I didn't really think was funny but smiled anyway) and I smiled the whole way home...which was more than a half hour. Sometimes I smile so long that my face starts to hurt...it feels so forced and unnatural to me.

Did anyone else have a problem with this?

I smile too long or at inappropriate times. My girlfriend will usually let me know now so people won't think I'm creepy.

I used to have problems with this too. Not knowing when to start or stop smiling. Sometimes when I stopped smiling my face muscles ached so much that my face went into a frown. I don't know what people used to think, but they looked at me strange sometimes.

I never had that problem, more the opposite, when I hear a joke I think is stupid or boring but I know I'm socially obligated to smile I end up with what looks like a grimace that lasts about a micro second. But I rarely smile anyway, even when I'm happy.
