Hi!
I use video/computer games as a means of recharging after stressful situations. The structure and composition of such games is also my special interest.

When I was younger I had a lot of problems with parents, some teachers and even friends because many of them would not accept this and blamed me for "wasting my time".
At the moment I'm working on my phd, topic: the language of online game players. So it can be said that my interest wasn't a waste at all, not that the opinion of those other people matters much. But even nowadays I sometimes get criticised for my interest in games.

How many of you share my interest in video games and use them to recharge?

i played an online game from around 5th or 6th grade to 12th grade.

I would have dreams of playing the game, and if I died in the game I would get very angry.

The graphics were crap but there is just something about the game that is very captivating.

Maybe the fact that there is no limit to your skills or levels.

Yes, I do as well. I enjoy role-playing video games. Maybe it's something to do with being in a world where the rules, what is expected of you, are very clear. All I know is that a couple hours of whichever Final Fantasy game I happen to be in the middle of calms me down a lot when the real world gets to be too much.

Nothing is a waste of time if it makes you happy.

I've been a console gamer since I was 4, mostly of the Mario and Zelda variety.
I love the sense of accomplishment and of being immersed in another world.

I'm into humorous games with a good plot and a good challenge.

Long time gamer here. I find it very therapeutical. Interested in game development as well.

The immersion in an alternative universe with more controllable rules is attractive to me too.
