This was my attempt to contribute in making the topic less of an taboo... with a little humour to make the subject less weighty and thus more accessable to a broader public.
I know that talking about trolling is giving them attention, but ignoring it is much worse in the long run. It's the same what i've experienced in online games with cheaters, it just ruins the gameplay for the majority who isn't cheating and makes people leave the game.
The definition of troll according to the article on Wikipedia is the following:
Quote:
In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

Trolling has more to do with intent then just plain reacting according to the quote, intentions are harder to measure in a reaction you don't want to hear. Well, I think coming on harsh isn't meant by most of us autists all the time (reffering to latest post on the homepage:
http://www.wrongplanet.net/article391.html) but some people seem to do so willingly in my view.
I hope this clarifies things, I just have the best intentions to keep it in good spirits here on the forum.
Cheerfully,
Wallourdes
p.s: Trolls from myths and legends are welcome in my book
