I’m guessing OT or PT? I think I have dyspraxia and I want an official diagnosis. Then I can hopefully get help.

An OT officially diagnosed mine. It affects me in ways I did not know of before her diagnosis and she explained what it causes for me.

When I had my autism assessment, they tried to refer to an OT to look into dyspraxia (not yet happened, so I can't report on the results), and the UK NHS website also recommends referral to an OT if looking for a diagnosis.

Were you diagnosed as an adult? How did you find an OT to do the diagnosis?

Yes I was...my mom was trying to get me services by asking around, but we don't remember what kind of professional it was. The person we shared with suggested occupational therapy for me, then mentioned the OT's name specifically, that she was really good. The thing is, the forms of dyspraxia I was diagnosed with, my mom and I did not know about(I knew I had slow motor skills and read up on it online) until I was sharing my experiences through e-mail after my times with the occupational therapist (it was easier to describe in writing why I did and did not do certain actions) and asked her if she knew why I forgot how to do something I do frequently (like why I switch words when speaking, completely forget how to pronounce a common word, as if I was just learning to talk) and freeze (stop responding and be very clumsy moving my body if doing something new or nearly new).
