Survival skills and AS
This is the constant issue. Back a while there was a big hoohaw about how the IQ scale is based firmly on Western Academics, and intelligence in a hunter-gatherer society manifests differently. And when I was involved in measurinf language competence, the goal was to resemble the performance of an "educated mspeaker of the language" - totally ignoring that in many languages the ones with the "education" are the ones who have fotrgotten the language - education is diffgrent for different societies.
Comes to this - sanity, survival, intelligence, socialization - the majority defines them in terms of what chatracterizes the majority.
How can they know how much survival skill some of us need just to sit silent at the bAck of the room?
I remember TV gameshows with tasks based on intelligence, teamwork and physical skill. They used to be popular before the bullying and humiliation shows took over. The constant theme of these was that survival relied on a broad skill base, and being only an athlete or an intellectual did not result in success.
Often, the winner was the most "likeable" and least "competitive" person competing, probably because they did not have an unbalanced, monomaniac competitive streak.
