A topic from another post brought this idea up. It's an idea that had come to me a couple of years ago after a talk with another student at college.

Given that aspies have odd sensory perceptions and all, I'm just curious about this.

Assume there is this sofa situated on your living room floor. It features pretty thick cushions on both the seat and the backside. Now, you walk in after a day at school or work. You immediately spot the couch. You then walk up to it and slowly turn around, facing your backside towards the couch. Then, in a quick flash, you plop your butt right down into the cushions, which are very soft and extremely thick.

Wouldn't that feeling be awesome? The feeling of falling deep into the cushions as time begins to drift slowly. Time feels like an eternity as your body plunges downward into the cushions. It's as if the couch opened up and eagerly swallowed you. The abyss has been opened, and now you find yourself falling and falling and falling down. It's the mere excitement that pulses in your blood as you fall deeper. It's a sense of ecstasy like none you have felt ever before.

And you never thought sensory stimulation could feel so good?

Don't lick the colorful little pieces of paper.
I kind of know what you mean, and your description looks like the lost verses of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. ;)
I have slight synaesthesia, where I describe tastes and smells with colors and tactile feelings and so on.
And some sensory input can be quite massive and sometimes quite enjoyable.

Although I absolutely love soft couches, this description actually reminds me of a nightmare I had as a kid. It went something like this. I was jumping on a couch, but slipped and landed face-down. Suddenly, I found myself slowly falling (or moving downward, to be exact) through a dark abyss; it was pitch black, except occasional flashes of red and yellow lights. It's like I fell through the couch and started going farther and farther down. I kept falling for what seemed to be five minutes, until I woke up frightened beyond belief. I was afraid to jump on a couch for months.

My idea of heaven would be to be alone with a soft sofa, a fireplace crackling, with a good book and a purring cat. And no phone.

I like soft couches. I sleep with three pillows on my bed. The softer and deeper, the better, except when it's really hot, because I can't stand heat. It acts up my sinuses.

The thing is, I wasn't the one who experienced these sensations. The student I was talking about did, after taking some sort of designer drug. He went on and on to me about the experience the day after while in class, and all I could think about afterwards was how great it would be for me to feel something like that! I won't take drugs to do it, but I tried just plopping my butt down onto my couch. All I could get was the normal sensation.

He explained it to me like going down a hill on a rollercoaster, a kind of ecstatic feeling that I enjoy to begin with.

A nightmare? Now, for me, that sounds like fun. A dark abyss with the occasional flashing of red and yellow lights. It sounds like great stimulation.

There was this one ride I was on at some amusement park years ago. I forget where it was, but it had something to do with Star Trek. Maybe it was at Disneyland, I don't know for sure. But, anyway, it was a rollercoaster that my parents would dare not go on. It was all indoors. Once the ride started, the occupants were quickly plunged in a chamber of utter blackness. As the ride progressed, and it didn't take long, flashing lights became the primary attraction. It was an intense and captivating experience.

I can take chocolate or leave it. I'm more of a snack fanatic.

Having sex while skydiving at a rock concert and eating LSD-laced chocolate.

Can I talk about a negative experience?

When I was in third or fourth grade, I had to sit in the principle's office to eat lunch, because I had a hard time with the constant noise, smells, and disgusting foods. so I brought my own lunch.
