Today, on a totally unrelated board where I am not in fact likely to spend much time I had my first Chat Room experience.

What is it, this Chat thing, I wondered - and there it was so I "walked" "in"

You know, it was just like walking into a real room. Just as I "entered" the main "chatters" left.

Par for the course.

The person left in the "room" "said" nothing.

I "said" nothing.

I typed a conversation starting greeting. Other did not get it. I explained. Third person "entered". The other one "left". New one asks a question, gets mad and disgusted because I am answering the wrong things too slow.

He "leaves". I "leave":, thinking, yeah - it really is JUST like live chatting.

Won't try that again soon.

"Won't try that again soon."

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: - did you sit next to me, when i tried the chatting thingy? I left with the same resolution... but then i tried again after i got to know the people on the forum better through their posts and it was a bit easier.

I will never catch up at my old age with all the abbreviations and the different colours and fonts do my head in, but when they are not used it is even more chaotic, :D.

It is like a real conversation in a group, I found it quite funny to observe how two people were speaking to each other and then a third one contributes, but at the same time maintains his/her line of conversation with somebody else.

And they pick up on everything so quick!! ! People already make jokes and bounce comments of each other when I just start asking what everybody is talking about...

I also have seen that people seem to be kind of "socially competitive" in chatrooms - who is best known, knows best where yesterday's conversation left off, they compliment each other on their chosen font and colour ( 8O ) and so on.
JUST LIKE REAL LIFE, AHHHH!

I've had a very bad experience with chat rooms, as well. The last time I was in a chat room, was one January a few years ago. It was full of trolls.
