Do your neighbors know you?

I know a couple of aspies who barely know their neighbors,......and likewise, the neighbors either don't know their aspie neighbor or think that the person is odd and don't want to associate.

Do you know your neighbors and do they know you?

No. They're just sorta... "there".

Nope.

I've met some people on my street just walking down the street. I say hi and they usually start a conversation.

Just the little people, the kids, they
are the only ones who play with me,
the growedups across the street are
nice too and a couple others but the
rest don't seem intristed in me they
just watch USfootball and eat beer
so they don't bug me, but they are
not very intristing.

So the kids usually are the ones I
know, they come over and ding the
bell alot over and over until I wake up
to go outside to play with them.

I dont associatewith my neighbors, most are either meth/crack/heroine addicts, or they deal in the s**t. There are a few people who are alright though.

My current best friend was originaly my neighbor back in Ohio. We live in Texas now and one side of the house is a sweet couple from Mexico and on the other side an averge American family with two kids. If I wasn't still living with my parents, I doubt I would even make the effort to get to know the neighbors.

My neighbours and I don't know each other.

Next-door neighbours know me, yes.

And they're fully aware that I'm AS, so that's a plus.

I am nearly 70, and I have lived is many states, and communities. I can't remember the names or faces of any of my neighbors " what neighbors ". There have been many homes full of people around me but I was not interested at all as to who ocuppied them unless I was annoyed with them. I keep my curtians half closed, as I am light sensitive and don't like people " looking in " I do not enjoy converstion at all unless they talk about what I'm interested in. I have conversations with my wife, but I'm not good at small talk. Neighbors seem to want to know who you are, and I'm not good at sharing. I say Hi when I need to, or even at times I don't when I should'
If a neighbor wants to have a few words I go through the motions, and walk away not even remembering what it was about. So how do you get to know your neighbors, or better yet how do they get to know you.

Yes. I seem to have a decent rapport with some of my neighbors. I have lived in my current residence long enough without problems. In some of the rental units, I don't know anyone, but they have a high turnover rate. New people every 6 months or so.

Next to my house there is an orphanage and sometimes I talk a little with the kids. I also know the women who the take care of the kids. Also next to the orphanage there is a parking lot and I know the guys who manange the parking lot. They just had two beautiful little daughters (1 year old now). And sometimes I play with their baby daughters.

Kind of...I sometimes say hi and chat a bit. They know who I am and I know who they are. Back in my hometown, we knew all of our neighbours since it was a small town. They would sometimes bake pies for us and such and we would bring them stuff as well.

I don't know my neighbors and I don't want to get to know them.
