Social Interaction and Studies.
Some person who thinks they know what they're talking about (but who in reality doesn't have a clue) had said that Social Interaction isn't an arcane mystery because anyone can find peer-reviewed studies on google pertaining to body language.
then they gave THIS link: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?Db=p ... 20language
So apparently, anyone who has a problem figuring social interaction can just go read one of these studies, and the problem will be solved! Or will it?
Too bad I didn't have internets when I was growing up! If I was born about 20 years later I could have just looked it up on the internet! [/sarcasm]
Problem is, when I looked at these, I couldn't find anything particularly relevant. There's a whole bunch of completely irrelevant articles. Certainly nothing among the "Free Text" ones. Nothing in any of those studies gave any sort of clue about how to decipher body language. So in short, this person found precisely 3/5ths of bugger-all.
There's one study that's maybe remotely relevant
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19151375
What it does say is Our data suggest that emotion perception deficits in ASD may be due to compromised processing of the emotional component of observed actions.
So that doesn't even support the person's own assertion! ![]()
