As a child, I used to be criticized by my Grandma for liking "those stupid cartoons", where in contrast my cousin 'watches all the grown-up shows and movies"

Lemme tell you what those "grown-up shows and movies" consisted of, in two particular examples:

Friends
Mac and Me

The former is a really painfully bad sitcom that gets worse the older I get.

The latter is considered one of the worst movies ever made.

I was the one being criticized for immaturity; she gets a pass for bad taste?

What business did she have caring what you watched anyway?

my family had a weird obsession with their grandkids being "mature"; I assure you in retrospect they were no more mature themselves.

Condescendingly debating all the latest topics, and talking about other people behind their backs isn't exactly maturity city, itself.
