Do any of you accumulate facts in a slightly random way?

For example I once learnt the boiling points of all the alcohols in my chemistry data book. More recently I learned all the stations from London Waterloo to Guildford.

I also like reciting these facts to people although my Mum told me that nobody is really interested....

Names for the different sizes of champagne bottles. I find it hard to retain facts since I had a baby but I still like to attempt to learn them.

I've accumulated a lot of facts about The Kinks, over the years, however, I will not be starting a question and answer thread, about them. I don't like being put on display, the way that Rain Man was put on display, by his brother, Charlie.

Over the years I've managed to committ a lot of important historical dates to memory. I could tell you the birth dates of some of England's monarchs, the execution dates of other monarchs, and the dates of important events in the United States.

Just a few I know from memory:

Queen Elizabeth I was born on September 7th, 1533.
Anne Boleyn, Queen Elizabeth's mother, was executed at the Tower of London on May 19th, 1536.
Queen Elizabeth I died on March 24th, 1603.
Queen Marie Antoinette of France was executed by the guillotine on October 16th, 1793.
Queen Victoria, who was born in 1819, ruled England from 1837 until 1901.
In the United States, the Stock Market crashed on October 24th, 1929.
The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941.

Sounds interesting.

I don't like being put on display by others either, I like to do things at my own will.

All the time, I'm like the king of random facts both related and unrelated to my special interests.

The first nation to recognize the United States as an independent nation was Morocco.

Oh, I am full of tons of 'useless information'. It mostly has to do with dates in history, including birthdates of famous people.

Yes. You're just as likely to hear from me that the plastic bits on the ends of shoelaces are called "aiglets" as you are to hear that human polynucleotide kinase is a 57.1 kDa protein, or that a particular theme music is from the Colin Baker Doctor Who era because of the percussive bass.
What you're not likely to hear is anything remotely useful or relevant...

Sometimes a lot of random facts just seem to stick in my brain, even though I didn't intend for them to go in there.

The USMC is actually slightly older than the United States.

most of the random fact I know I get from my boyfriend who has moderate to severe ADHD. I also have a tone of facts about dogs particularly the German Shepherd Dog

German Shepherd Dogs are Commonly refered to as GSDs.

The German Shepherd Dog was originally founded in 1866 and had a straight back as opposed to the roaching and slopping backs you see in today's dogs. The roach or slant were bred for in sow dogs as they were considered "fashionable," and now many people mistakenly believe that this was part of the design so the dog could run better when in all reality these dogs have what is called a taxic gate this means lack full control or coordination in their walk. This also puts a nasty tole on their joints! :(

here are the changes in pictures source link royaliar past and present

TODAY'S GERMAN SHOW LINES ROACHED BACK

[img][img][800:493]http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb1/zeev227/rOACHED.jpg[/img][/img]

TODAY'S AMERICAN SHOW LINE SLOPED BACKS!

[img][img][800:968]http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb1/zeev227/American.jpg[/img][/img]

You should be able to see the clear destruction of this wonderful breed of dog.

The white coat color was also part of the original founding of the breed but was later made into a fault by one of the organizations causing mass culling of the puppies. Luckily some breeders breed for the white coat and old fashion straight back! Sadly thwy now have people convinced the white coat is linked to fealty skidish anxious dogs WRONG

I've also accumulated lots of facts about psychology, as well.

Usually, I will look something up on Wikipedia. From there, I will learn about that subject and everything vaguely related, through Wikipedia articles and the source material.

Did you know that goober peas are the official snack food of South Carolina?
