I have done this my whole life even as an infant which landed me with a diagnosis with rapid cycling bipolar at one point in my life. I never heard of neonatal onset bipolar disorder

But usually I wake up in the morning kinda tired and slow but toward the night goes on, if I am mentally tired, I get really hyper and very talkitive. When I was a kid, when I got mentally tired, I would run around the house in circles for hours, or until mom grabed me and made me sit down which at that point, I would start getting sleepy.

I had that happen today, I only had about an hour and half of sleep because of some work I had to do, and after the day went on...I just got really hyper, talkitve and often repeating the same things over again.

Does anyone else with AS, or self diagnosed AS get more excitable at night or when there is a lack of sleep? I was wondering if it was an AS thing or something else

yes!! At night, when I'm really overtired, I get really hyper and talkative (both of which are the opposite of the normal me), I also will randomly laugh hysterically.

It's not an AS thing though, it's actually fairly normal. I have NT friends (and siblings) who get really hyper when they are tired. The difference between when most NTs get hyper from lack of sleep and me is that they seem to be able to control it to a better extent than me.

I dont know if I would call it an AS thing, I dont think so, but I tend to get really excitable when I am obviously very sleep deprived. I think theres a threshold of exhaustion one passes where they don't think as normally anymore.

A small number of persons (not everyone with hyperactivity) thought to be hyperactive have sleep apnea (breathing difficulty causing a lack of normal sleep), not hyperactivity. A few of those are helped a little by CPAP (Continuous positive airway pressure). That's my understanding.
