But you would be too if for half your life people kept telling you that you need to speak up!

Does anyone else get harassed about this?

GREAT! I AM LOUD TOO!

Yes, I was constantly told to speak up as a child.
Be careful what you wish for because I don't shut up these days.

I'm a loud talker and mom says I have always been loud. Some people think I am yelling at them.

That would be handy when my input levels drop below
acceptable levels in which my CPU is able
to decode one's transmitted audio data.

I mean , when my hearing goes south on me.

Otherwise, I'd just put in my ear plugs
if it went too high.

This unit is adjustable.

Yes! My parents always say I'm shouting when I'm not - or, at least, I didn't realise I was. I also often say things really loud in class by accident and get everyone in the class turning around and looking at me, and my teacher telling me off. I seem to get told off a lot for talking in class, and not necessarily because I talk more than other people, but just because a lot of the time I talk louder than them so I'm the one who always gets in trouble. Other times, such as at sleepovers, I whisper so quietly that people have trouble hearing what it is I'm saying. Basically, I find it very difficult to adjust my voice to the right volume.

In most situations I'm ok, yet loose volume control when stressed out or under pressure to explain something. The worst I ever got was the boss of a fabrication office, who just turned around in the middle of a conversation and yelled:

"Hey Jim, Hey guys, Get in here, you have to hear how loud this kid talks!"
...

Only to to complain later that he could not hear me, and I needed to speak up. I know I can be loud, but i never realized I was loud enough to count as a carnival attraction.

I usually speak quietly but once I'm stressed or unnerved people tell me I'm yelling while in fact I would just speak so they would hear me. My mom keeps telling me I should stop yelling at her while in fact I'm just trying to explain something and I'm not mad at all.

I am the opposite. Many people ask me to speak up. Sometimes when I am trying to get around a person and I say "Excuse me," they do not hear and I have to repeat myself a few times. Maybe it is because I have always been extremely sensitive to noises. As a child, my parents joked that I was sneaky because I made a great effort to make no noise while walking around the house.

I have a friend from high school who almost certainly is an Aspie and she speaks quite loudly. It can be rather exhausting for me if we are in a long conversation, but I like her for who she is.

I tend to be way too quiet - or just do not say anything at all. Ever.......sigh :( Or so shy I cannot.

I wish I were louder! I do not mind those who are loud-speakers as they are just projecting their voice. Sometimes loud speakers give an air of confidence.

I´ve been told, often, that I have a loud voice. I think my loudness is even worse when I´m excited about the subject matter, or in any intense conversation with someone.

However, I often have the problem that jagatai mentioned, that when I say "excuse me" trying to get around someone, they don´t hear me. In fact, often I feel like people don´t really listen to what I say. Or they ignore me. Maybe that´s what started me talking loudly in the first place.

I'm often told that my voice is very loud. It gets even louder when I'm talking about my interests or being upset over something, to the point that I actually start shouting. To give you an idea of how loud I am, my mom says that my whispering volume is actually regular speaking volume for most people.

One of the many pet peeves I had while sharing a house with my older sister was that whenever her toddlers went down for a nap, she always snapped at me and told me to "Shh" because I was "being too loud", when all I was doing was talking normally (well, normally for me anyway).

My youngest brother is always getting bent out of shape about how loud I am. When I was in the army the drill sargeants used me to read out our plans for the day and what they needed to bring because even the people in the back could hear me clearly especially when I yelled.
