I was told that I'm not articulating enough many times. People often don't understand what I'm saying because of my articulation problems.
Is it somehow related to Asperger's? Do you have the same problem?

By articulation I mean pronunciation.

I get told I mumble in person. Over the phone, I am easy to understand but something changes when I am talking face to face and I mumble at times. I also say one word when I mean another. That only happens in person as well. I don't know why it is so difficult talking to people face to face but so easy over the phone. I wish I could be the same in person as I am over the phone.
When I get told I mumble, which is sometimes, not all the time, I just reapeat what I said and they can understand me then. My mom is the one who tells me I mumble the most, so I thought it was just her hearing but then a waiter was asking me what I said at a restaraunt. It doesn't happen too often though, so I don't know if I consistently talk clearly or not.
I don't like listening to a recording of myself because it's I think I am too nasally. I used to make recordings of myself trying to change the sound of my voice but it always sounded nasally no matter how I talked.
At times, there's a subconscious whine or drawl in my voice as well. People have told me they don't like whiney voices, so I try my best not to have one. Sometimes it just happens.

My articulation suffers because I have a tendency to speak too quickly as I try and make the thoughts come out of my head at the same speed at which they are being formed. I am also a stickler for words and am blessed (saddled) with a larger than average vocabulary, so often find myself stopping mid-sentence to find "just the right word" because I have a problem with not allowing myself to use a word that is "good enough". This creates an unusual speech pattern where I speak very quickly, pause, speak quickly, pause. It drives people nuts.

no. i can articulate well what i wish to say.
but what i wish to say is not usually well understood.

my brain does not operate in a way that is intuitively understood by the people who i choose to talk to.

they think i choose to think about things that are very trivial and they can not even care to comprehend it because it is a pile of rubbish as heard by their hearts and minds.

i nevertheless continue to think the way i do because i see things my way. and i i am unable to see things from their perspective, so i almost never choose to talk about what matters to other people.

that was well said i think, but irrelevant to anyone.

articulation is not an issue because I speak deliberately and slowly when focused on saying something important. But it makes my overall speech choppy.

When tossing off trivialities to social queries, I speak quite normally. It took a few decades to get there, but I pass for almost normal.

I have that problem and when I try to explain things I stammer trying to put thoughts together as fast as I am thinking them and it gets out of hand because I don't call some things by the names that other people call them.

Articulation challenges are not limited only to some of those with Asperger's. In my case, I can pronounce almost anything which is written, however, I cannot speak the words along the lines of how singers and actors/actresses speak/mold/shape/draw out/emphasize/prosody different words. Words: Speech, hearing, apraxia, etc. Many persons may not know that one of the first observations about ADHD meds on children was the ability to cause a few children to talk more (Bradley, M.D. - 1937). Medicines like: Coffee, caffeine compounds, Ritalin, Dexedrine, and Adderall are known to temporarily improve aspects of speech for some users (not everyone)(not a cure). Regular speech practice/reading outloud helps some, however, in many cases the underlying neurology appears to be closer to something like the ADHDs/Parkinson's. That's my understanding. It can be difficult to find professionals who can transition from speech practice/practice speaking to neurology/the ADHD meds and so on. It's like different members in the world of speech (guilds) do not talk with other guilds (neurology) aka walls of ignorance between various business groups.

I sometimes have difficulties with articulation, it also happens I usually speak to fast. My mind just think so fast that when I'm saying a word the next word is already in mind so I don't finish saying the first word. The same thing also happens when I type, I just overlook words and I'm already typing the next word before I typed the previous.

I have a different problem with typing. Once I get going I will occasionally skip the first letter and begin with the second letter of the word.

I had a correction of my nasal mucosa at the age of 19 since I can hardly breath through my nose. Actually it didn't change anything, except for the first 3 days.
My father uses to mumble too sometimes. I wonder whether my mother blames him to have teached me to do so too.

I trip over my words. They come out of my mouth like alphabet soup. Then I just blankly stare at the bowl, still full of soup but barely any letters. That's what I call 'mind blanks.' Other times I can articulate quite well. Then sometimes I struggle to pronounce a few words. My motor skill problems also include mouth movements.

yeah i speak too fast and not clearly enough i have been told. what it feels like to me is , the words all come out, but i always feel they didn't enter the other person's ears. they just float around their head. so i end up not being sure i have expressed myself clearly enough, and getting annoyed at all the efforts i make for nothing...like i'm talking to deaf people. the same feeling you get when you talk to your elderly grandparents and you're never quite sure they can hear you, not matter how loud you speak and how much you strain your vocal chords....

Also, does anybody else talk too quietly without releasing it?

I mostly get complains about talking too fast. When I'm agitated or exited about something, I speak so fast people don't understand anything at all. It's probably because I try to speak as fast as I can think, but that never really works out xD. Also, because I speak so fast, I somtimes stumble and then I stutter. At those times I just can't finish the word I want to say :S. Luckily, it doesn't happen often...

I don't really have problems typing, except when listening or talking and typing at the same time. When that happens I mix things up :P
