According to my farther I have never been officially diagnosed with aspergers syndrome. In school I needed to have learning suppourt assistants in my lesson to help me out on my work and help me concentrate.

In school i was told by the head of my learning suppourt staff that i have "semantic pragmantic disorder". she also went onto say it makes me get obssesed over things. When i look over my old records as well from when i was 6 years old again the label 'semantic pragmantic' was used to describe me.

Apperently my school pushed my parents to give me the aspergers label so i could get more help at college on my work once i leaved school. i told my brother i had aspergers and everyone in my enviorment always says i have aspergers even my mother said i had aspergers once.

this is confusing me? My mother did say that semantic pragmantic disorder and AS are the same thing.

any advice on my situation because i am a little annoyed if i have not got AS that i am being accused of having a conditon that i do not have. semantic pragmantic is like high functioning autism it is a seperate conditon.

AS and SPD are not the same thing. People with SPD cannot use language in a proper way because they don't really understand what it is they are saying. Instead of saying "I want to go to Disneyland" when they want to go to Disneyland, they will say "You want to go to Disneyland," because they don't understand that "I" is used to refer to self, and "you" is used to refer to another person, and things of that sort.

People with AS, on the other hand, have no such language delays, and tend to have a high verbal IQ.

First, you are not being accused of anything -- having a disorder is not a crime. Then, it really makes no difference what label someone might use as long as you actually do "get more help at college on my work once i leaved school" as first intended for you long ago.

Oh dear today i was talking to my mother about this and when i was a kid although they thought I had semanitc pragmantic disorder they might have misdiagnosed me because they were not sure what i had at that stage.
