Yet another thing I did out of social normality today.

So, I was walking my dog and I saw a MASSIVE herd of geese grouped together. Now, I am just getting my bearings on the world, and I am unaware of the full legal system.

So, I take my dog and we chase after all the geese and they fly way. Afterward, someone comes out of there house and tells me they will call the police for "harassment of wildlife." So, I apologize and tell her I won't do it again. She accepts it and goes back in.

I don't know if that was aspergers or if I am just an idiot.

You being like a child is more of it, nothing wrong with being a child.

Although the geese are probably migrating at this point and are massed together to fuel-up so teasing them is not really nice at this point, being tired and all.

I don't know which country you are in, but animal rights are becoming more of a mainstream issues in these times.

Cheerfully,
Wallourdes

Shooing birds is "harassment of wildlife." That's funny. Tell that biddy to go eff herself, you did nothing wrong. If shooing birds is a crime, then farting is air pollution contributing to climate change.

Of course, that is probably what caused the meltdown of the glaciers at the end of the last ice age. Atlanteans farting.

If you were at a park, the park authorities would be happy at what you did. They are always trying to find a way to shoo off geese because they deposit a pound of poop a day per goose.

If you have to ask yourself if something is illegal, chances are it's not. Tell the hag to go and make you a goose sandwich and see what she says to that. and if she still gets mad, ask her how she escaped from the kitchen. Then dare her to call the cops for shooing the geese with your dog.

A soft answer turns away wrath. I think it would be better to tell the woman that her concern for the geese is a good thing, but in this case she is probably mistaken. Or you could call the parks department and find out what the actual rules are where you live and then let her know that you cared enough to find out.

I don't think you did anything wrong -- don't let someone's expression of self-righteousness fool you into thinking that they must be right.

Sounds to me like that woman was over-concerned, or somehow feels that she somehow owns those birds if they're close to her property. Or she thinks that they somehow won't come back later.

Wild animals have to contend with other animals trying to kill and eat them, so shooing them for fun doesn't seem too traumatic, IMO. I remember doing that as a kid with the family dog at the beach.

If you were younger she wouldn't have minded. Although she may threaten to tell your parents.
It's just another thing that we are expected to know.

That's what we call a militant animal rights activist. She probably would have responded the same way if all you had done was utter some foul words about the geese lol. While many might consider this childish behavior, it wasn't wrong in any way.

I think it was a bit cruel on the geese. you wouldn't want someone to set their dogs on you for kicks?

Um, I think it works exactly the opposite way. If you have to ask yourself if something is illegal, chances are it is. Or at least it won't be one of the best ideas you'll ever have.

OP: I didn't know something like that would be a problem, but don't take it personally. This is one of those cases where the problem is the other person and not you.

They are just geese. Next time tell them to call the police, they'll look like idiots.

Imagine they called the police if you had a cat which killed a bird or something.

You what? LMAO!

I do stuff like that all the time, there's nothing wrong with it. I suggest you look up the law in your local area to see if that person was telling the truth, but I do doubt it. Chasing geese is hardly "harassment"
