Something bad happened and there's nothing at all I can do about it. I'm totally fine with it, not upset at all.

So what does it mean if I feel really sad, sad enough I start crying, every time I think of it?

You don't give much details so its hard to tell, but if it is for example a person or animal who died, it could be because it is only when you think of them that you feel (or realise more acutely) that they are not there anymore and you miss the person or animal. I am that way when it is a person who died (except my grandmother, then I was very sad for a while), I am ok generally but will be sad or cry when I think of the person, depending how close I was.

I think what happened later is your true feelings. Maybe you have a delayed emotional reaction?

It can be a delayed emotional reaction. I sometimes have delays to things. Also, it may not be a delayed reaction, but rather you think about something and the thought causes pain. The concept I am trying to describe is kind of hard for me, but I've had that experience after my ex broke up with me.

Maybe it means that you're actually sad about whatever it was, but your consciousness doesn't know that yet?
